What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is the use of information and communication technologies to deliver health related services when the provider and client are in different locations.

Telehealth looks a bit like face time or skype and means that you can see and hear the other person at the same time.

Telehealth can include a range of activities including video calls, voice calls, emails, sharing of documents and pictures, use of youtube or other electronic games or media.

How do I Access Telehealth

All you need is a suitable digital device and internet connection – a smart phone, ipad, laptop or desktop computer will do the job.  Sometimes headphones can also be helpful and a printer if its available.

There is no need to download any special software, our therapists will look after all the technical side of the appointment for you.

How do I know if Telehealth is a good option for me?

If Telehealth is a good solution for you, your therapist will flag it with you, explain how it works and go through our Telehealth Suitability Questionnaire with you.

Can I do both telehealth and in person services?

Yes! You can have your services delivered in a combination of ways, however it suits you best:

  • In person
  • Telehealth only
  • Mix of both

Is Telehealth as effective as in person services?

Yes! There is evidence that supports that there are similar outcomes between telehealth and in person delivery of allied health services.

The important part of your service is the quality of the intervention and the skill of your therapist. Telehealth just provides another method of service delivery.
